Smoke in cabin forces emergency landing of Afriqiyah flight

An Afriqiyah Airbus A320-200, registration 5A-ONO performing flight 8U-436 from Tripoli Mitiga (Libya) to Alexandria (Egypt), was enroute at FL350 about 25nm southeast of Tobruk (Libya) when the crew decided to divert to Tobruk reporting smoke in the cabin. The aircraft landed safely in Tobruk.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 35 hours, then returned to Tripoli but has not yet resumed service about 21 hours after landing in Tripoli.
