A plane with 93 passengers and crew, bound for Frankfurt from Denmark, unexpectedly needed to make an emergency landing in Hannover due to smoke filling the cockpit.

The incident caused quite a stir as the pilot had to halt their flight to Frankfurt and instead safely land at Hannover’s airport. A representative for Hannover airport shared this news.

Luckily, all 89 passengers and 4 crew members were unharmed and could have exited the plane had they wished. A fire was not detected, according to the spokesperson. The cause of the smoke in the cockpit of the Bombardier CRJ900 remains a mystery.

The flight had departed from Billund, Denmark, and was en route to Frankfurt am Main when the emergency landing occurred. The incident attracted the presence of Hannover’s fire department who arrived on the runway. Investigation into the origin of the smoke has now been taken over by Lufthansa’s technicians, as shared by the spokesperson.
