Lufthansa flight makes emergency landing due to smoke in the aft galley

A Lufthansa Airbus A350-900, registration D-AIVC performing flight LH-474 from Munich (Germany) to Montreal,QC (Canada), was enroute at FL360 about 10nm northwest of Frankfurt/Main (Germany) when the crew reported smoke in the aft galley and decided to divert to Frankfurt performing a rapid descent causing a TCAS resolution advisory with traffic below. The aircraft landed safely on Frankfurt’s runway 25C about 25 minutes after leaving FL360. The aircraft stopped on the runway for about 4 minutes for an inspection by emergency services before taxiing to the apron.

The remainder of the flight as well as the return flight LH-475 were cancelled.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Frankfurt for about 2.5 hours, then positioned back to Munich and returned to service about 16 hours after landing in Munich.
