An electrical burning smell in the cockpit of an Air New Zealand flight to Sydney has forced it to return to Auckland. The Boeing 787, flight NZ103, took off at 9am on Saturday but was back safely on the ground 45 minutes later after crew detected the unusual smell. The Fire Service says the smell was reported to be like electrical burning. Firefighters were not eventually needed. Passengers were put on an alternative service. The airport says NZ103 would now leave at 1pm local time. Earlier this week, the same flight to Sydney was aborted on the runway after passengers reported seeing smoke coming from an engine.
